MUI Asks Muslims to Pray Qunut Nazilah for Palestine

Muhyidin Junaidi as chairman of the Council of Leaders of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), strongly condemns the Israeli Zionist action that closed the Al-Aqsa Mosque last week. He also considered even that is a cruel act.

"We strongly condemn the Israeli Zionist policies that have closed the Al-Aqsa Mosque," he said at the office of the Leaders of the Indonesian Ulema Council, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Thursday (20/07).

Muhyidin also urged that Israel immediately reopen the Al-Quds Mosque. According to him, if the closure is not immediately reopened, it is feared there will be tension and ekskalasi between Muslims.

"Of course we urge Israel to immediately reopen the Al-Quds mosque," he said.

Israel closed the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem after an attack on police with three Palestinians killed. It makes Palestinians perform prayers outside the mosque.

To that end, MUI requested that the Indonesian government initiate to press the UN Security Council to hold a special session.

"We (MUI) are asking the Indonesian government to pressure the UN council to hold a special session," said Muhyidin.

MUI also asks Muslims in Indonesia to pray for Muslim brothers in Palestine by doing qunut nazilah.

"We appeal to Indonesian Muslims to pray with qunut nazilah and to pray for the peace and salvation of the Palestinian people," he urged.

Finally, he also reminded Israel not to take advantage of internal conflicts of countries in the Middle East region. Moreover, through the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which can expand the Judaization policy in Palestine.
